About Us
Detroit: Home to the world’s most exciting urban renewal story in-progress. The Detroit Fashion Collective concept is striving to be a cornerstone of the city’s reinvention.
The Detroit Fashion Collective was formed by a group of passionate industry practitioners to support the independent creative Fashion Community with a focus on accelerating independently owned fashion businesses and a mission to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of design students.
Resisting the urge the join the established fashion empires of cities like New York or Los Angeles, Adriana Pavon and a small group of industry peers are taking a drastically different approach to their careers and returning to the working-class neighborhoods of Detroit.
The modern facility is the first on its class attracting designers from around the world. Our services include educational seminars and classes, and guest speaker series; fashion shows, designer exchanges, and competitions; and opportunities to participate in high-profile red carpet events. An emphasis on trade affiliations provides a context for members to seamlessly transition from apprenticeship to practitioners.
The desire to use creative passions to change lives and make a difference can be found in a generation that spans from India to Mexico City. The co-operative model it is built upon is relevant outside of the fashion industry and outside of major cities. Drawing on the leverage of social networking and online community, New Creatives anywhere can learn from Detroit’s experiences while building and sharing their own unique story.
